(Really rough version now...better version later.)
FLY AWAY
Jasper's hat is sort of a mystery. He never takes it off, even in the shower, and it has the tendency to try to attack and eat small woodland animals. Such a hat raises so many questions.
I like your usage of the window type thing through which Jasper is sticking his head, it adds depth to the picture plane in a very simple yet effevtive manner. Your technique is beautiful, I love the fine white outlines on the shoulder and collar. One thing though, there's something about the shape of the hand gripping the hat that seems kind of odd. Of course I'm judging by my human standards and Jasper doesn't exactly have standard human anatomy. Other than that, I love it. It's pretty incredible that this is a rough drawing. In a vein of inquiry similar to Xid's, does the recurring owl have a name?
As for the hand... The anatomy isn't really that far off, but the proportioning is. His hands are often a challenge for me, since they're so ridiculously oversized that my best efforts at sketching them still look awfully awkward. At your suggestion, however, I think I might go back and take a second look.

That's one hungry-looking hat. I like how Jasper is reprimanding it, yet seems almost proud of its actions, like he's glad to always have a protector with him.

ahh, this is how i remember jasper when i left off. it is so good to see it all again. like getting off a long day at work and finally being able to go back to a good book.
i really like the double stripes, and i enjoy that you started using the living hat more. the owl seems to me to be saying "it is more concerning that i am seeing you than that you are trying to eat me, perhaps there was something off in my last meal." although maybe that's the sleep deprivation talking.
i am trying to unlearn comenting on every picture.
My cousin, who was looking over my shoulder to see this picture, has some very interesting theories about Jasper's hat. Most of them make me wince. I'd rather look at pretty pictures of Jasper's hat then wonder where it's digested food goes.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Have a great time everyone and please fav this article so as many people can see the featured works. I would recommend seeing each one and faving them too.

Lovely work. Hard to believe that this is the rough version, but I can't wait to see it done.
