Paolo's almost nonexistent attention span is a great source of frustration for Emile, whose lectures about thwarting museum security are frequently ignored in favor of games with dumb animals. The cat is named Claire, the third such feline rescued by Emile to later work as a fetcher of keys and other small objects that would be difficult for him to otherwise obtain. As clever as Emile is, it would be difficult (and potentially very awkward) for him to shimmy up a drainpipe or crawl down a chimney to sneak into another person's house. The first two cats in his employ (Claire 1 and 2) were clever enough to open up window latches and paw open doors. Their replacement is considerably less adept...besides being a particularly rambunctious kitten, Clair 3 is too spoiled (and well on her way to being too fat) to do her work properly. This may have something to do with the fact that Paolo insists on feeding her people food and rewarding her even when she climbs on the furniture and hoards socks.

It's very difficult for Emile to find good help in the business he's in. <: c




Clair's supposed to be a long, lanky cat akin to a Sphinx, with maybe a little more chub around the hindquarters than is healthy. She's also missing a good two-thirds of her tail, which was how Emile found her hiding behind the trash cans in back of his apartment. She has an impaired sense of balance and frequently falls off of the furniture, much to the concern of her owners.
