Description

These two guys are minor charcters in my comic project, but I like them a lot, so I thought I'd toss their design sheet up here. I've been looking for an excuse to draw a horse, so I made one for myself. c:

THEY ARE BESTEST-FRIENDS. <:B

Enrique is the giraffe-necked, foppish blue horse. He was supposed to be based on a specific breed when I started sketching him out, but then he evolved into...well, the caricature of a horse, and the design sort of grew on me. (And yes, that is a sort of fuzzy little moustache going on there.)

Personality-wise, he's equal parts suave and smug, and splits his time between teasing Escamillo unmercifully and trying to impress any fillies within earshot. He enjoys showing off his fancy footwork and would probably end up hurting himself if not for the skill of his rider.

His rider, Azevedo, is a picador of Argentinian heritage. He is a fellow of mercifully few words, though he does ocassionally mutter something grumbly under his breath. Generally he makes a lot of grumpy noises and glares at people from under his massive eyebrows. He's never seen without his hat and when he's not riding, he walks a little bandy-legged. For a long time, Escamillo thought that it was Azevedo making fun of him, and not Enrique, since he couldn't see who was talking to him. Either way, they don't really get along that well. Azevedo's probably a little too good at his job to be prepping fighting bulls for Escamillo, but he thinks complaining is wussy and so allows Enrique to do it for him.

I can't help but to think of our horsey friend at the National Art Museum... and your priceless mimicry of him...
